One of the points of pride of India is the Kanha National Park & Tiger Reserve is located in Madhya Pradesh . It is the place where not only nature unwinds its pristine in thousands of hues, or the wildlife roams fearlessly, but also humankind meets the life. The Kanha National Park & Tiger Reserve is an ultimate retreat for wildlife lovers as it offers a wide variety of biodiversity. The park attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world as the park is different from other national parks, as it boasts a vast population of rare one-horned rhinoceroses. 


Back in 1950, it was declared as a wildlife sanctuary. In 1968 it was declared as a national park. It was further recognized as UNESCO world heritage in 1985. As the national park has a high density of tigers, the a National Park was also incorporated as a tiger reserve in 2006.. Amid the national park, you can spot some exotic wildlife species, including elephants, leopards, sloth bears, etc. The park is a fusion of various landscapes, including elephant grass, marshland, and tropical moist forests.


The various zones:


The core zones include a central part of the tiger reserve, and it shares the territory with buffer zones. 


The core areas are:


• Kanha zone- It has open meadows that offer unique sightseeing points to tourists.

• Sarah zone- the sarahi region not only has vast fields but also comprises of dry deciduous forests. It shares the territory with the Kisli Zone.

• Mukki Zone- The landscape of the Mukki zone includes bamboo, saal, and grasslands.

• Kisli Zone- Along with bamboo vegetation, the Kisli zone also includes scenic meadows.


The buffer zones include:


• Khatia zone

• Khapa zone

• Phen zone

• Sijora zone


What can you see besides the national park?


• Kanha Museum- It is a central place to visit if you wish to learn about the topographic conditions of the area. Several skeletons of herbivores, carnivores, and reptiles can be seen here. Upon visiting the museum, you can learn about the history of the national park.


• Mandla town- It is a tribal town located near the Narmada river. It is worshipped by thousands of devotees as there are various ghats surrounded by the river. Once upon a time, the town was the capital of the Gondwana Dynasty.
